For generations, The Kingsbury Center served children and families seeking an educational experience grounded in the belief that individuals with learning differences should be fully seen, heard, valued, and supported.
Kingsbury’s educational model recognized that meaningful learning begins with understanding the whole person: their strengths, needs, interests, aspirations, family circumstances, and individual path to success.

Our Next Chapter
Although The Kingsbury Center does not currently operate a school, its commitment to individuals with learning differences and their families continues.
Today, Kingsbury is exploring how its legacy and resources can support organizations and schools already doing meaningful work in the District of Columbia. We seek to learn from, invest in, and develop relationships with partners that share our commitment to individualized support, family partnership, belonging, dignity, and meaningful outcomes.
Our initial pilot initiative will help Kingsbury identify effective practices, better understand the needs of the community, and shape a renewed and enduring role in special education.
